Chess Informant / Šahovski informator Chess Informant has been one of the world leading chess books publishers since its foundation.
The appearance of the first volume of Chess Informant in 1966 marked the beginning of a new approach in surveying chess practice and theory. The basis of that approach was the established chess language, whose main components were a system of codes and a classification of chess openings. The appearance of the first of five volumes of the Encyclopaedia of Chess Openings in 1974 announced the creation of the complete Chess Information System of Chess Informant.
